The Allentown school District foundation has added three new board members.  Joining the ASDF board are Dr. D’nese Sokolowski, Attorney Donald Wieand and Dr. Erika M. Sutherland.  All have been elected to serve three-year terms.

Sokolowski  is a physician in Allentown.   She is graduate of William Allen High School and a clinical associate professor at DeSales University.  Her other community engagement includes work with St. Thomas More, Moravian Academy and the Swain School.

Wieand, also an Allen High School graduate, is Senior Counsel at the law firm Stevens & Lee.  He is currently on an advisory board for the Allentown Salvation Army.  He is a member and past president of the Allentown Rotary Club and the Allentown Rotary Club Foundation. He previously served on the board of trustees at St. Luke’s University Health Network, as a Lehigh County Commissioner and as a member of the Board of Governors of the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority.

Sutherland is associate professor of Spanish and chairs the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Muhlenberg College.  She has been the director of the Grupo de Apoyo e Integración Hispanoamericano, the Hispanic immigrant support group, in Allentown for nearly 30 years.  She also works with the Lehigh County Board of Elections to train and organize the Spanish poll interpreters.

At its most recent meeting, ASDF board chair Dan Bosket also recognized two board members who have completed their service. “We are extremely grateful for the outstanding service of Dr. John Stevens and Dr. Dennis Blankowitsch.  Both have been on the foundation board for seven years and have provided wise counsel and made outstanding contributions,” said Bosket.
