Save the Date: 11th Annual High Notes: A Gala Retrospective
Posted on 03/02/2021
Join supporters of the Allentown School District Foundation on March 31 and see a fun filled review of ten years of the High Notes Gala performances, hosted by high school students live! If you are suffering from ‘digital event fatigue,’ we promise the 11th Annual HIGH NOTES Gala will be a fun, fast-paced affair  that you can watch in the comfort of your own home during the week. It will remind you that Allentown students are very talented!

“As gathering in person for large events is not possible, for now, we turn to technology to help us fundraise, to recognize the creativity of our students and to celebrate the value of our public school system,” says Dan Bosket, ASDF President.

The Show
This year, the annual Gala is being transformed into a digital show, entitled “A Virtual Reality,” with an opening date of Wednesday, March 31, 2021, starting at 8:30 p.m., for a short and fantastic review. Mark your calendar!

This Foundation-sponsored production will showcase the school spirit of the City’s public school system, teacher and student creativity, and the District’s rich diversity. Each year, the Gala production features more than 120 students from William Allen High School, Louis E. Dieruff High School, and Trexler, Harrison-Morton, South Mountain and Raub Middle Schools. Students unite to open and close the show while promoting and celebrating the diversity that makes up the Allentown School District. This production is filled with short acts and music from Allentown’s best student performance groups with some memorable openers and show finales. Groups include the Canary Cavaliers Jazz Band, the WAHS Dance Academy, Dieruff’s Select Choir, Dieruff Jazz Band, WAHS Chorale and award-winning theatre students performing snippets from the 2011-2019 spring musicals.

2020-2021 Accomplishments
While the Foundation’s official mission is to encourage, promote, support and fund positive educational experiences
for students in the Allentown School District, this year the Foundation focused on providing solutions for students
and teachers who have witnessed challenges with the development of A Virtual Campus for remote learning. Some
notable ASDF accomplishments:

• The Foundation raised the funds to purchase face masks for every student and teacher in every school
with their school’s mascot proudly inscribed on it.
• The Foundation supported the school district in the development efforts needed to acquire WiFi hot
spots and technology tools for students working from home.
• Julie K. Ambrose, Ph.D., has been appointed the new executive director, relieving Susan L. Williams of
her duties after serving five years.
